1.0 Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to the Module BIH 3 of the IBIH Diploma. In this Module, we look into the human biofield or body-field, drawing on the work of some of the leading pioneers in the field. Most scientists agree that fields and forces, even those which we currently cannot detect, are causative influences in nature and evolution. Among the well-known advocates of a quantum field-level view of the body are PhD biologists such as Rupert Sheldrake, James Oschman, and Bruce Lipton; physicists such as Professor Amit Goswami, Dr. Peter Marcer, Dr. Ervin Laszlo, and former astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell; medically trained visionaries such as Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Larry Dossey; and leading reasearchers such as Peter Fraser and many others.Human beings are formed from cells, thoughts, emotions, memories, energy and consciousness. All these are holistically interconnected and choreographed to form a functioning person. To discover what so miraculously interconnects and directs the many aspects of our being, it is necessary to look beyond the bounds of conventional biology and chemistry. We must consider the human biofield (or energy field), and embrace both ancient healing wisdom and cutting edge physics. The science of the biofield is still largely unknown in conventional academic circles and to the general public, but to those farsighted individuals with an eye to what is coming next in biology and medicine, it is an exciting avenue of exploration. It promises to revolutionize medicine in the next few decades, leading to a complete revamping of clinical practice, making it more non-invasive, effective, and humane.Every year, more and more people see the benefits of complimentary healthcare as the limitations of the purely biochemical model of the body become more apparent. It is even changing our view of what constitutes a human being - not merely physical beings driven by chemical reactions, but bio-energetic and bio-informational beings whose physical form is overseen by consciousness.

Values and Beliefs

Our values and beliefs have a huge impact on our lives. Ask most people, though, and they would not be able to tell you unprompted what their core values and beliefs are!Values
‘Values’ are principles, standards, or qualities considered worthwhile or desirable, in other words, what we regard as important. They are the basis of our actions, especially when ethical issues are involved. Values are often shaped in a rather haphazard way as we mature. As children, we tend to adopt the values of those around us, then later we modify them according to our own learning and experiences.Beliefs
A belief is an idea we accept as true. Unlike thoughts, beliefs come with deeply rooted feelings of certainty. If we really believe something, its effects follow us moment by moment, whether or not we are consciously thinking of it at the time. Our strongest beliefs usually concern ‘the way it is’, including religion, moral values and ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ such as respect for law and order, family responsibilities and loyalty to one’s country, region or community.Beliefs create intense feelings. Criticise a person’s beliefs, and they feel under attack. Once a belief takes root, the mind continually searches for the evidence to prove that it is right, and we behave in accordance with the belief.Although most beliefs are learned in our early years, in adulthood we can consciously and deliberately change a belief that isn’t helpful, including restricting beliefs about ourselves.Beliefs affect us whether they are true or false. We behave according to perceptions and understandings, which may, of course, be deeply flawed. Hence it is essential to identify any beliefs held by a client that could prevent them from achieving wellness. Irrational beliefs are related to many health conditions and are the main causes of emotional disorders such as panic attacks, phobias, anxiety and low self-esteem.

The Amazing Holographic Universe 1

The illusion we call reality
In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. You did not hear about it on the evening news. In fact, unless you are in the habit of reading scientific journals you probably have never even heard Aspect’s name, though there are some who believe his discovery may change the face of science. Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn’t matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart.Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein’s long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since travelling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this
daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect’s findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations.University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect’s findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram. To understand why Bohm makes this startling assertion, one must first understand a little about holograms. A hologram is a three dimensional photograph made with the aid of a laser.
