What is the Sanet Merid? The Sanet Merid, from Sanet Medical BV, is a way for therapists to measure and treat human organ systems using infrared light. Measurements are made on the meridian end points of the hands and feet. The infrared is used to test the capability of the meridian energy systems in the body. The test is said to take about 5 minutes. The tests remain objective and reproducible due to the fact that infra-red light is not influenced by factors such as cold feet or the pressure of the device on the skin. (These factors complicate other forms of point probe testing: i.e., EAV or EDS. We note that precise placement of this probe may still influence results.) The Sanet Merid has established the relationship between the energy of the meridians and clinical factors such as blood pressure, sugar levels, blood values and others.
What Happens in a Sanet Merid Diagnosis? In order to measure a patient, simply place the ballpoint-shaped probe on the first ‘ting’ point (meridian end point) to be examined. When the ‘start’ button is pushed, the diode at the tip of the probe pulses infrared light into the ‘ting’ point. The number of light pulses the patient allows you to emit depends on the energy status of the meridian involved. As soon as the energy status of the meridian has reached its maximum, a reaction is triggered. Suddenly, the patient will experience a pain sensation, which is the signal for you to stop measuring the first ‘ting’ point and move on to the next.
(We would hesitate to use any system that caused pain to a client during assessment, as this could raise stress levels, altering the state of the body being assessed. But this "pain" is how the process is described.)
A built-in computer program calculates the averages of the number of light pulses over all 24 meridians that have been measured, and determines whether the status is hypo or hyper. This type of measurement is meant to ensure a high degree of accuracy and reliability. Treatment is aimed at balancing the left and right branches of the meridians. The effects of the treatment are noticeable immediately, the patient experiencing a sudden sensation. This signifies a successful treatment and a further control measurement can be made to easily see the new energetic status.
How Does the Sanet Merid Treat the Imbalances? The treatment is aimed at restoring the natural balance between the left and right meridian channels. A typical example of energetic pathology is an imbalance affecting three interconnected meridians. To treat this type of energetic pathology, infrared light with a specific frequency is applied on the hypo side of the meridian pair that is out of balance. As a rule, we use three different points on one meridian. The first one is the ‘ting’ point; the second, and most effective one, is the ‘luo’ point; and the third and last one is the stimulation point. As soon as the meridian has been stimulated long enough, the body reacts instantly, and the patient will experience a sudden pain sensation. This is highly remarkable, for when the same IR-light is applied on any other point on the body, there is no such reaction. Treatment times are between 30 seconds and 300 seconds per meridian.
How Long Does it Take? Measurements normally taking about 5 minutes and treatment normally taking between 5 – 15 minutes.
